Every country has its symbols and legends. The list of Czech legends also includes Pilsner Urquell Lager.
Pilsner Urquell Brewery in Pilsen
Make a trip to the beer capital, as Pilsen is nicknamed, to get acquainted with this legend, which was born there more than 170 years ago. Since that time, the fame of Pilsner Urquell beer has spread around the world, where more than twothirds of beers produced today have been inspired by this exceptional brew and are therefore called pils, pilsner or pilsener.
Today, the Pilsner Urquell brewery combines traditional brewing techniques with the latest brewing technology. At the same time, it is a unique industrial heritage site which in 2008 gained, as the first place in the Czech Republic, the status Anchor Point of the European Route of Industrial Heritage (ERIH).
The brewery attracts not only experts and lovers of great beer, but also all those foreign visitors who want to see the best the Czech Republic can offer. The tour of the Pilsner Urquell brewery takes tourists to all the authentic places where Pilsner Urquell lager has been brewed since 1842 and where its story continues today. The brewery is open all year round and the whole route is barrier-free.
Pilsner Urquell Gallery – Experience Shop in Prague In June 2012, the brewery opened for visitors of Prague a new representative Pilsner Urquell Gallery – Experience Shop. Situated in the heart of the city centre, the Gallery and Experience Shop offers tourists an interactive multimedia exhibition telling the story of original Pilsner Urquell beer and a gift shop with a wide range of branded items and souvenirs of this world-famous lager.
