The most popular cycle route in the Region is the stage of the Elbe Cycle Route leading from Hradec Králové to Kuks. This 30 km long stage in the Elbe valley countryside will lead you, for example, to the Baroque Chapel of the Epiphany in Smiřice, to the Josefov Fortress of 1787, to the historical centre of Jaroměř up to the gem of Baroque – The Kuks complex.
The Castle Cycle Route is 13 km long one along the castles on the River Orlice. By way of introduction you can visit the Renaissance Častolovice Castle. You can stop for a cup of coffee in the neighbouring town Kostelec nad Orlicí, in the park of the Empire New Castle. After 5 km you will arrive at the Renaissance Castle Doudleby nad Orlicí. You will complete your wandering in Potštejn, where you can find not only a Baroque castle but also a ruin of the castle and the Clock Brewery.
As well very interesting trip is the 17 km long cycle route in the deep valley along the River Metuje from Peklo, a well-known excursion resort with a restaurant, going through Náchod to Hronov. In Náchod you can visit a Renaissance castle and the Běloves Museum of Czechoslovak Fortification. You will arrive through Velké Poříčí at Hronov, where you can visit the parental house of Alois Jirásek, the Czech writer.
This year´s novelty will be the competition CYKLOPECKY VÝCHODNÍCH ČECH (CYCLE SMASHERS OF EASTERN BOHEMIA). Leaflets are available at every TIC in the Region and after completing the particular trips you can win interesting prizes.
