Set out for a journey of experiences. Karlovy Vary is a famous region of spas and natural healing waters that restore health and vital energy. But its character is also shaped by lush nature, wild mountains and mysterious mining adits. Here are some tips that are definitely worth a visit.
Castle and chateau Bečov nad Teplou. The historic area boasts the reliquary of St. Maur, one of the most important goldsmith’s monuments in Bohemia. Loket Castle is a Gothic pearl on a rocky promontory in the bend of the river Ohře and it is a place connected with legends and living culture. Ore Mountains mining landscape on the UNESCO list will take you in the footsteps of Ore Mountains miners and introduce the 800-year history of mining in the Ore Mountains. The Cycle path Ohře, 102 kilometers long, will offer a ride through pleasant terrain from Germany to our region and will present many interesting places to see, such as Loket Castle or Svatoš Rock. You can visit the National Nature Preserve Soos, the unique remains of a salt lake, which over the centuries has been transformed into a peat bog and a mineral moor with mud volcanoes called “mofets” and protected animal species. During your visit, do not forget the National Nature Preserve Kladská, where you will discover the untouched nature of the Kladské peat bog with endangered species of plants and animals.
