The spa town can be found in the south of Bohemia, in the heart of a beautiful landscape with an endless number of small and large ponds. Come and see for yourselves that besides ponds there are thousands of other interesting things worth a visit.
In 2003 the whole pond system was officially nominated for an entry of the UNESCO World Heritage list under the denomination “Třeboň’s Fishpond Heritage”. Besides its natural beauties Třeboň offers many wonderful monuments. First among them the city castle, which belongs to the largest in the Czech Republic, or the square, which is the natural centre of the entire urban reservation area, surrounded by burghers’ houses with Renaissance and Baroque gables. The old town hall is the most important building; from its 31 metre tall tower you can have a nice view of the surrounding landscape.
Recently a unique exposition, “The Třeboň Region – landscape and people”, was opened in the castle cellar. The excursion into the region´s history and its natural beauties is presented in a way that will attract both children and experts. During one hour you can participate in the fish haul in one of Třeboň´s many ponds, you will see new-born otter babies in their hole, we will not reveal the rest of the fascinating attractions – let yourself be surprised and experience it personally.
