Welcome to the Strakonice Summer and April Skating Through the Town
4 The Town of Strakonice is situated at the confluence of the gold-bearing Otava and Volyňka Rivers. The main landmark is its castle from the 13th century, which houses exhibits of the Museum of Central Otava Basin, Šmidinger’s Library, castle restaurant or the castle safari, which is a great attraction especially for children. A novelty for tourists is the 11-kilometrelong Švanda the Bagpiper’s Nature Trail, which leads through the countryside in which Švanda the Bagpiper used to wander, play and give joy to people. You can also make a short walk and get to know the area of Podskalí of Strakonice, and the door of the swimming pool and sports and cultural facilities are open for all visitors to the town. The Otava River is now a paradise for anglers and all those who enjoy water sports.

Opening of the Tourist Season - 100th Anniversary of Establishing the Museum
Netolice ranks among the oldest settlements. The landmarks of the town include the town hall, churches and the Renaissance house - JUDr. O. Kudrna’s Museum, presenting an ethnographic exhibition - folk embroidery and costumes, folk furniture, samples of collections of picture postcards, artistic industry, weapons and crafts. The exhibition halls sometimes host occasional exhibitions. An archaeological park with a lookout tower is coming into being at the acropolis of the former St. Ján fortress from the Přemyslid time. An important sight in the vicinity of the town is the Renaissance chateau of Kratochvíle.

Timber Rafting 50 - Long-distance Tramp
The town of Týn nad Vltavou spreads on the banks of the Vltava River, not far from the confluence with the Lužnice. The beginning of Týn nad Vltavou goes back to the first half of the 11th century, the first written record of the town being made in 1229. The places to visit in the town include the Municipal Museum (underground passages, displays presenting the region, puppets and moldavites) and the Municipal Gallery U Zlatého slunce, in which prominent Czech artists exhibit their works. The town may also boast a rarity - an open-air theatre with a revolving auditorium, the only amateur stage of its kind in Central Europe. There are two water reservoirs in the vicinity of the town: Orlík and Hněvkovice - a paradise of anglers and lovers of water sports.

In terms of tourism, the Town of Tábor ranks, thanks to its rich past, to attractive places in South Bohemia. In the course of centuries, Tábor underwent numerous transformations, but has retained its historical character until nowadays. Fishing Days in Vodňany
For over half a millennium the town of Vodňany has been closely associated with fish and fishponds. The traditional fish farming, more than anything else, attracts anglers to visit the place and try their hand on Blanice, a river with a string of former mills passing through the picturesque landscape round Vodňany at the very heart of South Bohemia, a region anyway full of historic sights. While the event of Angling Days of Vodňany (Vodňanské rybářské dny) is in progress, the visitors can go to the Municipal Gallery to admire pictures by Jan Rapin, and the permanent exhibition of works by M. Aleš, F. Herites and J. Zeyer, another place of interest is the Municipal Museum (former synagogue) housing the exposition of Vodňany‘s Fishfarming traditions.

Opening of the Tourist Season
The centre of Písek is currently undergoing a number of changes: from the famous Stone Bridge you will proceed along the European Promenade, below the buildings of the well-known panorama of Písek. Its landmarks include the remaining wing of the former royal castle and the reconstructed Malthouse (Sladovna) building, which houses new cultural premises. Don’t fail to visit the former mill, in which František Křižík installed the equipment of the municipal water power station in 1888. Along your way, you will come to the renovated Gothic moat, and from there to Bakaláře with recently discovered Bronze Age and mediaeval artefacts.

Over the Hill to Hradec or the Jindřichův Hradec Pedal
The South Bohemian town of Jindřichův Hradec is a historical and cultural centre the beginning of which dates back to the mid 13th century, when it was a market town. The beginning of the town is connected with the family of Vítek. The castle was built by Jindřich I., who was the oldest son of Vítek of Prčice, and the founder of the family of the Lords of Hradec. The main landmark of the town is the 68.3-metre tall tower of the Provost Church of the Virgin Mary. The corner of the church is crossed by the 15th meridian of the eastern longitude. The state castle and chateau in Jindřichův Hradec is the third largest chateau complex in the Czech Republic. The Museum of the Region of Jindřichův Hradec houses the world’s largest mechanical nativity scene - Krýza’s Nativity Scene.

Nová Bystřice lies in the territory of the Bohemian Canada nature park, in a densely forested countryside dotted with fishponds and natural and historical sights. In the days of yore, this area was crossed by old trade routes, and the oldest documents referring to Nová Bystřice come from 1341, when it was granted municipal rights, however, there is a record from as early as 1175, mentioning a farmstead on the Bystřice River. The beautiful, unspoilt countryside invites for hiking, cycling, bathing, golfing, angling, picking forest fruits, and skiing, cross-country skiing in winter, and a number of other activities.

Bikeshow and Bikemarathon 2009
Prachatice lies in a valley below the Šumava mountain of Libín, reaching the height of over a thousand metres. The town came into being on the mediaeval trade route leading from the Alpine countries, called the Golden Trail. The reminders of the famous Renaissance era are valuable monuments of architecture, nowadays concentrated in the Town Conservation Area, and the Golden Trail Festival, held during the last June weekend every year. There is a rich all-year tourist offer of activities prepared for visitors to the town, including the tourist service.

Opening of the Tourist Season
The first records of the town date from around 1263 in connection with founding the castle. Later the castle was rebuilt into a chateau and at present it ranks among the most important sights in Vimperk. Apart from the chateau museum, housing the exhibitions of the glass industry, book printing, history of the town and the countryside of the Šumava Mountains, you can also visit the Mini-Museum of the Golden Trail and the municipal belfry in the main square (náměstí Svobody). Both these historical buildings will be opened to the public on Saturday 30th May 2009 free of charge.
