And it’s done! The cottage is ready for winter, the logs are cut, the garden is dug and its fruit safely stored in the freezer and cellar. This was a good start and you can continue in pre-Christmas activities by shovelling snow, cleaning the house or preparing delicious festive goodies.
And how about looking at the whole affair a little difierently? Well, after the hardships of gardening and fruit preserving comes Advent, a period when winter will rule the land and we can expectantly await the skiing season, which usually starts early December and ends mid April. One needs to say that this waiting is not to be endured by just sitting bored on a couch, it should really be a time of pleasure and joy.
It is true that these days it is not so easy. Start by not wandering around supermarkets and checking the prices in your gift hunt. Instead visit the Christmas markets and fairs and enjoy the festive atmosphere there.
On Dec. 5, there is the Traditional Christmas Fair (Pelcl Theatre) aimed not only at the children who can also take part in the annual “Devil’s Frolic” on the same day, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Do not forget to unpack the “quick-to-assemble nativity scene”, which can decorate the house in just a few minutes. Or you may get inspired by the nativity scene exhibition, staged in Rychnov Community Centre every year. This year it will take place from Dec. 11. You must not forget the traditional Christmas Markets held on the first courtyard of the Kolowrat Castle, this year on Dec. 11 to 12.
Rychnov nad Knežnou offers lots of entertainment, interesting facts and revelry all year round including the Advent period. It is just up to you to find the time…
