Opportunities for active hiking and pleasant relaxation
One of the many tourist destinations with a long tradition is the dominating feature of Liberec, the building of the television transmitting station and hotel, situated on the very top of Ješted Peak on the south-western edge of the city.
In 1969 this structure deservedly won the prestigious international Perret Prize. The nearby Ješted Resort provides chair lifts and a cable car for tourists; in the summer visitors can enjoy the bike park, and in the winter they can make use of the well-maintained pistes. The great advantage of the resort is its ease of access from the Liberec centre by city public transport. The ideal base for the sports resort is the metropolis of North Bohemia – the city of Liberec with a population of one hundred thousand – offering numerous cultural and sporting facilities, such as the Zoological Garden, Botanical Garden, F. X. Šalda Theatre, Naive Theatre, Regional Gallery, Museum of North Bohemia, Regional Scientiffic Library and Babylon Centre (with Aqua-park, Lunapark and IQ Park).
