Can anybody imagine a summer without a Pilsen? But how about to try summer in Pilsen? The city of Western Bohemia has greenery also in the centre, so there is always something to do. We offer you several tips for your free summer days.
Bolevecké Rybníky Ponds
By a public transport you can reach the complex of bolevecké rybníky ponds with very clear and fresh water. Velký bolevecký rybník is quite vast (56 ha) and can be used also for yachting, and its surrounding for bike trips. The educative Sigmund‘s trail in the natural reservation Kamenný rybník will take you to the technical rarity – a grease oven from the half of the 18th century. Mushrooms and blueberries pickers will enjoy their stay here as well.
Škoda sport park
One of favourite sport areas in Pilsen - Doudlevce. You can find in-line skating trace, skateboard park, outdoor climbing wall with 4 profiles, rope centre and many sportgrounds here. All area is open daily and for free.
Refreshment in the Town Centre
In hot summer, while walking in town, you will appreciate a shadow under trees. A park in Pilsen was established by a burgrave Martin Kopecký, where town walls used to stand once. You can admire statues of famous persons here, and also the broadest picture - Theatrum Mundi. The promenade park hosts many a cultural event, so relax and have a fun!
Zoo and Botanical Garden in Pilsen
Ideal family destination is the Zoo and Botanical Garden in Pilsen. It is not far from the centre of the town, partly in meadows of the Mže river, partly on the rock cliff. Due to these conditions it is possible to breed animals without cages. Did you know that the most numerous animal species in this country are being bred here? You can visit the biggest bear den in the Czech Republic, island lion run, monkey lairs and more. Small children will enjoy the farm Lüftnerka with domestic animals, their parents a unique Japanese garden, and everybody Dinopark with life-size prehistorical lizards replicas.

If you haven‘t enjoyed either visit to the ZOO, or shadows under the trees in a municipal park, then try a beer or two in the most famous Czech brewery, Pilsen Prazdroj. Lately there has been a “sensual“ exposition opened. You can learn not only about the process of beer brewing, but also about raw materials necessary for brewing this famous lager. And you may also discover that the local non-filtered beer tapped from gigantic barrels straight into glasses has its special matchless taste.
