From June 28 till September 21 there will be “Franciscan Summer“ in the Franciscan Monastery here. Each Saturday and Sunday you can enjoy music of all genres and theatre performances both for children and adult as well. Or you can visit “Emperor Day“ – this year it will be the 16th time when all the Kadaň bells start ringing welcoming the procession with the emperor Charles IV in its head. All Saturday the town will be back in the 14th century to remember its famous history. The main place will become a market place with traditional handicrafts and goodies. The end of the touristic season will be for the 9th time accompanied by the harvest of all the best to drink and eat, which have yielded in this region. The last September day (Sept 27, 2008) the Franciscan Monastery will host famous “Saint Wenceslas Vintage“. You can enjoy young wine, wine cider, or wine. You can also visit an exhibition devoted to the vineculture in Kadaň region, a small monastery vineyard and watch vine-grower working on squeezing the vine. Those who prefer a nice walk in town or sightseeing, can visit the Townhall Tower which is open from May till September, Kadaň Watch Tower, or the most remarkable sightseeing point here, which definitely is the Franciscan Monastery.
