It is consistently one of the most visited museums in the whole of the Czech Republic.
Founded in 1906, it is the largest museum of its kind in Europe and has one of the largest collections of Judaica in the world, with as many as 40,000 objects and 100,000 books. Its collections are unique for the fact that they come exclusively from Bohemia and Moravia and thus present a comprehensive picture of the history of the Jews in the region.
The museum tour includes a visit to exhibitions at the historical Pinkas, Maisel, Klausen and Spanish Synagogues, the Burial Society’s Ceremonial Hall and the famous Old Jewish Cemetery.
Open daily except for Saturdays and Jewish holidays November – March: 9 a.m. – 4.30 p.m. April – October: 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.
